A Pigeon in the Park

This weekend, Chris and I went to visit the famous Park Guell! On Saturday, by time we got to the park, the tickets to enter the monumental area were sold out. So instead of leaving, we wandered around and looked at the architecture of the park area. The whole park is full of stone arches and walkways that are positively breathtaking. We sat by one of the arch areas and sketched (and had quite a few tourists take picture of us while we did so) until we got too cold, then we walked around and saw the monumental area (AKA the area that you always see pictures of everywhere) from above and below. It got kind of late, so we headed home and decided to come back the next day (today) after we prepurchased tickets online. Definitely recommend doing this if you want to visit because tickets do sell out (I read somewhere that something like only 800 tickets are sold each day) and there are no student discounts. There are senior discounts and and children's discounts, but overall, it is one euro cheaper to buy the tickets online than at the site, so plan ahead.

One of the great things about traveling with your best friend is the amount of selfies they will shamelessly take of you and with you. I mean we were totally touristing it up out there and have the pictures to prove it.

My favorite picture has got to be one of these two. I love that I am in the guard house and that Chris out up with me enough to go down on the promenade to take it. I also love this other picture because who doesn't love to take one of those peaking pictures behind a tree? But this one is better (sorry Care- even better than our ND one) because the huge column we are behind is one of the columns that is part of the market hall under the community area with the serpentine bench. It just goes to show that taking pictures for strangers is the best way to get them to take one for you!

Be kind to your fellow tourists! PSA- many tourists do speak multiple languages and can understand you, so make sure you aren't insulting them!
